Charles A. McDonald is a doctoral candidate in anthropology and history at the New School for Social Research in New York. He is also currently a Visiting Researcher at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he is completing dissertation research on the return of Jews and Judaism to Spain from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. His work has been supported by the Wenner-Gren Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and the Center for Jewish History.
