ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: Why does the exhibition emphasize the time period beginning with World War I?
1948 – The Exhibition is a project by the German NGO DEIN–“Democracy and Information”. Its objective is to present a detailed overview of the history of the founding of the State of Israel.
DEIN asserts that hardly any other historical episode has been the object of more distortion, disinformation and widespread misconceptions by the public. 1948 – The Exhibition seeks to counter this through fundamental historiographic research, and an exhaustive and accessible presentation of the historical record. Historians, political scientists and experts on the Middle East have overseen the making of the exhibition. This includes reviewing of sources, documents, visual material, authentic correspondence, recognised literature and testimonies of contemporary witnesses. The result is an exceptional presentation of one of the most critical periods in Jewish history.
This week we are speaking with Dr. Oren Osterer, historian and Project Manager of the exhibition.
