American Highschoolers on a Study Trip to Spain
ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: In which Spanish town were the students able to see the original 1492 Edict of Expulsion of the Jews from Spain?
We recently met with a group of American students from The Weber School, a private Jewish high school in Atlanta, Georgia. Madrid was their last stop on a two-week study trip to Spain. We met with them in an Israeli-owned restaurant here with members of the Madrid Reform Jewish Community and were able to speak with several of the members of the group. First, we interviewed Olivia Rocamora, the Spanish teacher who is leading the group. She told us about the school and their travel study program. Then we spoke with several of the participating students, who gave us their impressions of Spain and the trip.
