Jewish Food and its Links to Jewish Culture, with Joel Haber 

ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: How did the economic situation in Israel in the 1950s cause Kurdish Jews there to modify the recipe of one of their traditional foods?

Joel Haber was born in the United States and has lived in Jerusalem since 2009. He  is an expert on Jewish food history, with an emphasis on the relationship between food and culture.  In Israel, Joel is a licensed tour guide and a food culture journalist. His most popular tour is a culinary tasting and history tour in Jerusalem’s famous outdoor market, Shuk Machane Yehuda. His writing appears on his blog and his new website and he has published articles in The Nosher, Tablet, and Tradition, among others. He has lectured extensively in online and in-person venues in multiple countries.
