ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: In what year did film director Stanley Kramer die? And what is the name of the documentary that Juan Carlos Fauvety made about him?
Juan Carlos Fauvety is a film historian who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1964. He has made documentaries about directors Stanley Kramer, William Wyler and David Lean, and also written a book about Lean, which was recently published in Spain. In June, Fauvety presented a nine-hour seminar on “The Holocaust in Cinema” in Centro Sefarad-Israel in Madrid. During the three days of the course he analyzed the topic from various points of view, using clips from over seventy films, both feature films and documentaries, as well as testimonies of survivors now living in Argentina.
Fauvety spoke with us about his own work and the seminar, the first part of which you can watch here.
