J€W$ GOT MON€Y: A Documentary (Jewish Poverty in New York)

ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: Why did the filmmakers choose New York to make a documentary about Jewish poverty?

Did you know that one in five Jewish people in New York live in poverty? This is one of the facts brought to light by director Sasha Andreas’s documentary ‘Jews Got Money,’ whose purpose is to combat stereotypes about Jewish wealth. While antisemitism and misplaced pride have made the Jewish poor almost invisible, this film takes a look at Jews without money. It features interviews with leaders of Jewish charities and philanthropists who talk about this sensitive subject and what they are doing to help.

This week we are speaking with Anna Heim, the producer of the film.
