ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: In what year was the Keren Hayesod Law passed in Israel, giving the organization special legal status?

Keren Hayesod – United Israel Appeal is the preeminent worldwide fundraising organization for Israel, which was established in London in 1920, to serve as the fundraising arm of the Jewish People and the Zionist Movement.  This week we’re speaking with Gil Gidron, the President of Keren Hayesod in Spain, about the history of the organization and the work that they do in Israel and around the world.

To commemorate its 100^th anniversary, Keren Hayesod created a special series called 100 Heartbeats, which includes a grid with links to 100 short articles exploring the organization’s past, present and future.  The stories include photographs and can be read in six languages:  English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian and German.
