ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: Why was Hildebrand Gurlitt released after the Monuments Men had found 20 boxes of stolen artwork in his possession and he was captured by American troops in 1945?
Emilio Ramos-Sabas is a Spanish lawyer who received a Masters degree in Refugee Law from the University of London with a specialization in Human Rights practice from the London School of Economics. He recently gave a presentation at Centro Sefarad-Israel on “The Theft of Artworks by the Nazis: the Unforeseen Consequences of the Gurlitt Case”.
This week Ramos is speaking with us about the Nazis’ idea of “degenerate art”, the pieces that were stolen by them, and what eventually happened to these artworks.
