Rabbi Haim Ovadia II: Empowering Sephardic Women

Rabbi Haim Ovadia II: Empowering Sephardic Women

ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question:  What is Morot Tzedek?

Rabbi Haim Ovadia is an educator who believes in empowerment and unconditional love. After thirty years as a pulpit rabbi in Israel, South America, and on both coasts of the United States, he now dedicates his time to making Judaism relevant to the 21st century and to empowering the next generation of religious and lay leaders. As founder and Rabbi of Torah Ve’Ahava (“Torah with Love”) Virtual Community, he is able to reach thousands of people worldwide using modern technology and various platforms, including podcasts, YouTube, and distance learning.

Last week we brought you the first part of our interview with Rabbi Ovadia, in which he told us about his work to promote appreciation and a better understanding of the Sephardic Jewish community.  Rabbi Ovadia also feels that Judaism has suffered tremendously because of the exclusion of women from Halakhah, the teaching and ruling on Jewish law.  To help remedy this, he is devoting special attention to educating women in this area. This week he is speaking with us about this unique educational program.
