Secular Synagogue, with Rabbi Denise Handlarski
ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: How is Secular Synagogue different from other Jewish programs and sites?
Denise Handlarski is the founder and rabbi of Secular Synagogue, an online community for Jews and, as she says, those who wish to hang out with Jews. Its mission is to unite people from different places and backgrounds in an accessible, inclusive, meaningful, and contemporary approach to Jewish learning, practice, and community. They do extensive and varied online programming, including workshops, spiritual retreats, and celebration of holidays. Secular Synagogue welcomes people who are Jewish, Jew-ish, secular, agnostic, atheist, spiritual but not religious, or culturally Jewish; that is, all people who feel connected to Judaism in any way.
This week we are speaking with Rabbi Denise about her own background and Secular Synagogue and its many activities.
