The Irish Jewish Museum, with Edwin Alkin

ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question:  What Israeli personality inaugurated the Irish Jewish Museum in 1985, and what special relationship did he have with it?

The Irish Jewish Museum is located in the heart of Little Jerusalem, the old Jewish quarter of Dublin.

It contains a substantial collection of memorabilia relating to the Irish Jewish communities and their various associations and contributions to present day Ireland, and includes material representing the Jewish communities of Belfast, Cork, Derry, Drogheda, Dublin, Limerick and Waterford.

The IJM received first place for Dublin City in the 2021 Heritage Week Awards for their presentation on the Photographic Collection at the museum.

Edwin Alkin is the Chairman of the Board of Management of the Museum.  In this program he is speaking with us about the Museum and also about the different religious Jewish communities in Ireland and their synagogues.
