TM Garret (1): From Neo-Nazi to Human Rights Activist
ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: When was the Ku Klux Klan first founded in Germany, and why did the Nazis ban the organization?
This is the first of a two-part series with TM Garret. He was born in Germany and as a teenager became radicalized and joined the White Supremacist movement there. After years of activism, and rising to the top of the European far-right movement, he had a life-changing experience that caused him to abandon that ideology and relocate to the United States, where he has become an outstanding activist for human rights. In this week’s program, TM is speaking with us about how he became involved with the far right radicals in Europe, and what made him reject that ideology.
Next week, TM will tell us about his activities in the United States, combating hatred and actively working for human rights.
