Women Wage Peace, with Manuela Rotstein

ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: What is the Mothers’ Call and who signed it?

Women Wage Peace is an Israeli grassroots peace movement, formed shortly after the Gaza War in 2014. Its primary goal is to prevent future wars and promote a non-violent, respectful, and mutually accepted solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with the active participation of women from diverse political and religious backgrounds through all stages of negotiations.

The movement is non-partisan and does not support any one specific solution to the conflict. Instead, it empowers women from diverse communities to build trust across divides, leading in turn to a unified demand for diplomatic negotiation, with full representation of women, to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Women Wage Peace works closely with Women of the Sun, a movement of Palestinian women with similar values and goals. Both of these organizations were nominated for the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize, acknowledging the impact of their collective efforts towards peace and reconciliation.

This week we are speaking with Manuela Rotstein, of WWP’s Media and Policy team, about the organization and how the attacks on October 7 changed the general state of mind of Israelis and have influenced the organization’s work.
